Watamu, Kenya

SA Lockdown – Day32
Physically I’m here in SA under a very strict lockdown.
Mentally I’m in Watamu sipping a cocktail on the beach.

Watamu is a small coastal town on the Indian Ocean north of Mombasa in Kenya. It’s known for their Marine National Park and Reserve, and has 3 bays: Watamu, Blue Lagoon and Turtle.
They are also known for their sandy beaches, coral gardens, turtles and deep sea fishing, but also has an extensive birdlife.
Malindi is their neighbouring town just 15km away. In 1940 Malindi was one of only two towns in East Africa that were bombed by the Italians and today is a very popular destination to the Italians.

We stayed at Hemingways in Watamu and this was an absolute treat. The service and quality of the hotel were exceptional and a perfect holiday destination.

They arranged a Dhow sunset cruise for us which was unforgettable.

There are many Italian restaurants situated literally on the beach.

The Crab Shack is know for the stunning sunsets.
